Are UAE influencers hiring? Salaries on offer revealed

Dubai’s booming digital economy is witnessing a striking shift — content creators are no longer working solo. They are now evolving into employers, building their own professional teams to meet the growing demand for quality content and consistent production. With brand partnerships multiplying and audiences expecting higher production value, many UAE influencers are turning their personal brands into structured businesses.

From Independent Creators to Business Leaders

For many influencers, this transformation started out of necessity. What once was a one-person operation — filming, editing, and managing collaborations — has turned into a full-scale media business. Emirati content creator Eisa Alhabib, who built a massive following online, recalls how he began outsourcing editing and filming tasks when brand deals began to pile up. “Relying on freelancers became difficult. I needed a team that could deliver on time and maintain quality,” he says.

That’s when he launched Majarah Media, a production company that now employs multiple staff, including an operations manager. The result? More organized workflows and stronger relationships with brands that value professionalism and consistency.

Similarly, Omar Farooq, a popular creator with millions of followers across platforms, realized early that creativity alone wasn’t enough. “When I have a team, I can focus on storytelling and emotion, while they ensure the execution is top-notch,” he explains. What started as a small setup in a home studio has now grown into a company of around 20 employees.

Why Hiring Makes Sense

Industry experts say hiring in-house talent becomes financially practical once content volume crosses a certain threshold. According to Nikita Phulwani, founder of Mumkin and a creator herself, “If you’re producing over 20 pieces of content per month, hiring full-time staff is actually more cost-effective than constantly paying freelancers.”

Phulwani highlights that hiring isn’t just about saving money—it’s about consistency and quality control. She often balances between freelancers and bundled deals to manage budgets but notes that full-time help becomes essential once content creation turns into a major income stream.

Creators also acknowledge that having an organized team boosts credibility. “When brands see how structured your operations are, they trust that projects will be delivered professionally,” says Alhabib. That trust translates directly into better collaboration opportunities and larger campaigns.

Most In-Demand Roles

As influencer-led businesses grow, certain positions have become highly sought-after. Full-time video editors top the list, followed closely by videographers, managers, and assistants who handle logistics, negotiations, and correspondence. Some creators even employ personal stylists or content strategists to refine their brand image.

Phulwani credits much of her success to her manager, who handles brand communication, contract negotiations, scheduling, and production support. “Having a manager changed the game for me. It freed up time to focus on creativity instead of administration,” she says.

The Hidden Business of Influencing

Behind every 30-second clip or viral post lies a surprisingly complex operation. Content creators now deal with inquiries, contracts, creative briefs, revisions, approvals, and post-campaign reporting — much like a professional agency. To comply with UAE regulations, influencers are also required to hold valid licences, file VAT, and report their earnings, reinforcing that content creation has matured into a legitimate business sector.

Do Brands Prefer Teams?

While brands primarily care about results and audience reach, having a structured team often enhances trust. “A team signals reliability and ensures timelines are met,” says Alhabib. For many brands, the assurance of quality and smooth execution outweighs whether the creator works independently or with a staff.

The Cost of Scaling Up

Running a team does come at a price. Skilled videographers and editors can charge between Dh3,000 and Dh5,000 per project. Full-time roles typically pay Dh15,000–Dh25,000, depending on experience, while managers earn around Dh10,000–Dh20,000 or take a commission of 10–30% per project. For creators who post content daily or collaborate with multiple brands monthly, these costs quickly become a necessary investment rather than an expense.

The Bigger Picture: UAE’s Creator Economy

According to TikTok MENA’s Head of Creators, Haya Barghout, the region’s influencer industry is becoming a cornerstone of the creative economy. “We’re seeing creators evolve from storytellers into entrepreneurs. They’re now building businesses, hiring teams, and even partnering with agencies,” she notes.

TikTok’s recent study with Kearney revealed that only about 10% of daily livestreamers in the MENA region currently work with agencies — a sign of untapped potential for future growth. The UAE’s livestreaming market, valued at $1.9 billion today, is projected to reach $3.4 billion by 2030, while the broader MENA market could grow from $8.1 billion to $17.8 billion in the same period.

Barghout encourages creators to scale gradually — starting by outsourcing editing or community management before building full teams. “Your team should enhance your creative voice, not change it,” she advises.

Looking Ahead

The UAE’s Creative Economy Strategy aims to double the sector’s GDP contribution to 5% and expand its creative workforce to 140,000 professionals. Content creators are expected to play a leading role in this transformation — not just as entertainers, but as digital entrepreneurs driving innovation, culture, and employment.

As Alhabib puts it, “This is no longer just about videos and views. It’s about building a creative ecosystem.”
